How do I challenge a Discretionary Assistance Fund Wales decision?
If you are not happy with the way your application was dealt with, or with the decision made, you can consider making a complaint or asking for a review of the decision.
If your application is unsuccessful, you’ll receive a letter or an email from the Discretionary Assistance Fund explaining why. If you disagree with the outcome or feel the grant amount doesn’t meet your needs, you can request a review by following the instructions in the email or letter.
Part 1 – Internal Review
You have 20 days to request an Internal Review. You can do this by:
- Calling – 0800 859 5924
- Emailing – daf.review@necsws.com
- Writing to – Discretionary Assistance Fund, PO Box 2377, Wrexham, LL11 OLG
Internal Reviews typically take:
- 24 hours for Emergency Assistance Payments (EAP)
- up to 15 working days for Individual Assistance Payments (IAP)
Stage 2 – External Review
If you are not happy with the outcome of the Internal Review, you can ask for an External Review. This usually takes 24 hours for an Emergency Assistance Payments, and up to 15 working days for Individual Assistance Payments (IAP).
