Staff Profile: Kelly-Marie Jones

My name is Kelly-Marie Jones and I'm one of the Welfare Benefits Specialists at Turn2us. I started in May 2016 after six years working in the advice sector. I'm a qualified solicitor and before Turn2us, I worked in law centres, a legal aid firm and a local authority. My experience includes representing clients in court and at tribunals, helping them to challenge benefit decisions and retrieving sizeable backdated awards. 

I've also run successful training events for benefit claimants and advisors, sharing detailed knowledge about the system.

I still practice as a housing solicitor in my spare time, advising at a free clinic to help people keep their homes and address their housing issues. I'm also on the board of trustees for Wiltshire Law Centre which provides free legal advice to residents of Swindon and Wiltshire.

Current role

At Turn2us, I use my benefits expertise to help ensure our Benefits Calculator is as accurate as possible whilst remaining easy to use. I also write website content and make sure our information about benefits is up-to-date and helpful to visitors.  

I am passionate about our cause; fighting poverty is our central aim and I'm dedicated to improving people’s understanding of and access to welfare benefits in the furtherance of that aim. If you need help, advice or have a question, please email our welfare team.
