Overlapping Benefits Meaning
The overlapping benefits rule means that sometimes you may qualify for two or more earnings replacement benefits but you cannot get more than one benefit at the same time.
Overlapping benefits split into contributory and non-contributory benefits. You cannot fully get paid for any two of the below benefits at the same time.
Contributory benefits:
- State Pension
- Contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance
- Maternity Allowance
- Widowed Parent's Allowance
Non-contributory benefits:
- Carer's Allowance
- Carer Support Payment (Scotland)
- Severe Disablement Allowance
