Managed Migration

Managed migration occurs when a legacy benefit claim is closed and a person is invited to make a new claim for Universal Credit.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will send you a notice letter telling your legacy benefits are ending and what you need to do. If your Universal Credit entitlement is less than your entitlement to your legacy benefits, you will get a 'transitional amount' to top up your Universal Credit.
