What is the Job Start Payment (Scotland)?

The Job Start Payment is a one-off payment to help young people and care leavers in Scotland to move into work.

It can be used to pay for things such as clothes, travel costs and childcare. It does not have to be paid back

There is no equivalent for England, Wales or Northern Ireland.

Administered by: Social Security Scotland.

Type of benefit: Non means-tested.

Taxable: No.
