Make your donation today to help make this winter brighter for families in need.

As the cold sets in, thousands of families across the UK are facing another winter without the essentials they need to stay warm, fed, and safe. Parents are going without meals so their children can eat. Older people are cold and frail sitting under layers of blankets, too afraid to turn on the heating.

No one should have to live like this. But together, we can change that.

This winter, your support could help more families like Emma’s find warmth, comfort, and hope through a Turn2us grant.

Before Emma received her grant, she was caring full-time for her mum, who had dementia and complex health needs.

Before the grant, we were barely getting by, often going without heating. The cold was making our health worse. For me, with arthritis and diabetes, I felt the cold a lot more. My mum would struggle more in the cold too.

Can you help more families like Emma’s?

In order to meet our Warm Homes, Full Plates, Bright Futures appeal target we need you to donate £50 or whatever amount you can today so we can reach our goal and help more families like Emma’s.

Your donation could help a family turn the heating on, have the money to fill their fridge, or help an older person stay warm through the night. Every gift helps someone find dignity and stability when they need it most.

Here's what your generosity could make possible for one of them this winter

23% of adults in the UK - around 5.5 million households - are financially insecure and currently experiencing financial hardship.

  • £25 could bring a little cheer to a family in need.
  • £50 could make sure a family’s home is warm and their cupboards are full so their winter is a little brighter.
  • £150 could help a carer like Emma afford essential costs while supporting loved ones.

Poverty affects us all, whether directly or indirectly. Let’s work together to break the cycle and create a more equitable society. We are only as strong as the weakest hand we are holding.

When Emma received a grant from Turn2us, things began to change.

“The grant came at a time when we were struggling to make ends meet. It helped me cover our utility bills and stay warm, which was essential for my mum’s health and mine. It meant I didn’t have to worry about the carers turning on the hot shower to keep Mum clean. It meant that when I had to wake up at 2am to care for her, I wasn’t freezing.”

The difference was immediate - and lasting.

"This didn’t just help me and my mum, but also my children and grandchildren – keeping them warm too. When things were very hard, the grant eased up my immediate financial worries."

That breathing room gave Emma something even more precious: the confidence to rebuild her future.

"Since receiving the grant a few years ago, the financial breathing room it provided made it easier to keep my social work qualifications up to date. This means I haven’t had to abandon my career despite taking eight years off as an unpaid carer. I feel more confident that I will be able to return to work now after my mother’s death.

"The grant was lifesaving. It uplifted me in the moment and gave me space to think about the future."

Your generosity this winter can do the same for others who are facing impossible choices right now - whether to heat their homes or put food on the table.

Together we can help more people stay warm, put food on the table and feel hopeful for the future this winter.
