Turn2us responds to Budget 2018

Following today’s Budget, we are warning that more needs to be done to help people struggling to make ends meet.
Pritie Billimoria, Head of Communications at Turn2us, outlines the charity’s concerns:
“It was reassuring to hear some positive commitments with the increase in Tax Free Personal Allowance, access to credit and some of much needed reform to Universal Credit. But there was little sign of long term change needed to provide a real lifeline for the increasing number of people trapped in low paid jobs and families going without basics such as food.
“The boost in funding for Universal Credit will provide some relief to the problems we see and hear about every day. But some of the fundamental problems with Universal Credit appear to have been overlooked which will leave some of the most vulnerable members of our society plunged deeper into poverty.”
