Turn2us Benefits Calculator highly commended at Nominet Internet Awards

Turn2us has received a Highly Commended award for its Benefits Calculator in the ‘Doing good online’ category at this year’s Nominet Internet Awards.

The Benefits Calculator was developed in response to major changes to the welfare benefits system, and since launching in October 2013, has helped thousands of people in financial hardship to access their entitlements.

As a result of using the free online tool, users have identified that on average they can increase their income by £3,589 annually. With over half of Turn2us users on annual household incomes of £10,000 and less, this additional income is making a vital difference in helping to pay for essential food, clothing and bills.

Now in their eighth year, the Nominet Internet Awards celebrate the best online initiatives in the UK. It’s the second time Turn2us’ work has been recognised at the awards, winning the ‘Charitable or not-for-profit’ category in 2012.

Alison Taylor, Director of Turn2us said: “We’re delighted to be highly commended at such respected awards, especially as the other shortlisted organisations in our category were so strong.

With the cost of living continuing to climb and further changes to the welfare benefits system planned, we hope this recognition will increase awareness so that we can help more people in financial need to access the support available to them.”
