What have the fundraising team been up to?
Over the last few months Turn2us staff and fundraisers have been battling challenges and events all to raise money to fight UK poverty!
London Marathon
In April, we had four amazing runners who took on the London Marathon, which was the hottest in history.
Temperatures soared to 23 degrees but Julia, Matt, Ryan and Tom powered through, spurred on by the cheering crowds, to run the 26.2 miles through London, raising money and awareness for Turn2us.
If you would like to follow in their footsteps, we are currently accepting applications for the 2019 London Marathon.
Monzo
Monzo are a digital bank which, like Turn2us, aims to help people take control over their financial lives, which is why we were so excited to be chosen as their charity partner for this year.
Over 30 members of their fabulous staff and community members took part in Tough Mudder to raise over £4,000.
The course was 10 miles long and consisted of 5,000,000 litres of mud, 40 tons of ice and 10,000 volts of electricity! We had a great day cheering them on from the sidelines and are so grateful to be partnered with such a fun and dedicated team.
Walk for Peace
We also took part in this year's Charity Walk for Peace, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association (AMEA) for the second time.
Every year, the walk raises hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities around the UK and beyond.
Despite the drizzly weather, we had a wonderful time on the five mile walk through Royal Windsor Great Park, taking in the beautiful scenery and enjoying a homemade biriyani afterwards.
Thank you to AMEA for including us in this fantastic event again. We look forward to taking part again next year!
A big thank you to all our #TeamTurn2us fundraisers. We really couldn’t do what we do without you.
You all put so much into your training and fundraising. The money you raise is vital in fighting UK poverty. You help people through the bad times so that they can get their life back on track and plan for the future.
If you would like to join #TeamTurn2us and the fight against UK poverty, we still have places in the Prudential RideLondon. For more information, please contact Kesh at Keshini.mauree@turn2us.org.uk.
