"The government’s announcements set out a number of major changes, so we will be carefully reviewing their impact on people experiencing financial insecurity in the coming days.

"We welcome proposed investment in employment support and the ‘right to try work’. However, the cuts will harm more people than they help. Reducing access to PIP and cutting Universal Credit for those unable to work is short sighted. It will create hardship, erode trust and cost us more in the long run.

"If the government wants to ‘get Britain working’, it needs to get the system working. That means listening to people’s experiences, building trust and making sure everyone has enough to live on."

Tom Lawson, CEO, Turn2us
