Turn2us has received a £500,000 boost thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. This additional funding will help reach more people at risk of financial insecurity across the UK through grants, local programmes and online income support tools.
These include free tools, like the Turn2us Benefits Calculator and Grants Search, which have supported over 3.4 million people to find and claim the additional income they’re entitled to since March 2024.
Last year, we worked alongside Disability Rights UK, Mind, and people with lived experience to co-design the free Turn2us PIP Helper tool. This helps Disabled people or those living with long-term health conditions through the overwhelming and complex Personal Independence Payment (PIP) application process. An average PIP award is £6,900 annually and can lift Disabled people out of deep poverty.
Our place-based local programmes in Greater Manchester, Barking and Dagenham, and Middlesbrough are led by local organisations and people with lived experience. By working locally with residents, community organisations, and local authorities, we can reach people furthest from financial security and address economic injustice together.
Thomas Lawson, Turn2us CEO, says:
“We are deeply grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their support. This crucial and flexible funding will help Turn2us as we continue to offer practical support to those of us facing financial shocks and use our insights to challenge the root causes of financial insecurity.
"Funding raised by Postcode Lottery players is instrumental in making this work possible and we truly appreciate their commitment to helping people and families to build thriving futures.”
