Turn2us celebrates support from players of People's Postcode Lottery

In March 2024, Turn2us was awarded £300,000 of flexible funding, raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. At least a third of each lottery ticket goes to support the work of charities like Turn2us.
It was fantastic to be welcomed into the People’s Postcode Lottery family at their wonderful annual charity gathering in May, alongside other charities who recently received funding.
The funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery has been vital for us as we continue to tackle financial insecurity across the UK through our grants, local programmes, and income maximisation tools.
These include free tools like the Turn2us Benefits Calculator and Grants Search, which have supported over 2.6 million users since March 2024 to find and claim the additional income they’re entitled to.
At Turn2us, we are here for everyone, but we know that many Disabled people or those living with long-term health conditions face additional barriers and often aren’t receiving the financial support they’re entitled to, including Personal Independence Payment (PIP). An average PIP award is £6,900 annually and can lift Disabled people out of deep poverty. However, the application process can be overwhelming and complex to navigate.
That’s why we developed and launched our free online tool, the Turn2us PIP Helper, earlier this year. It has been co-designed alongside people with lived experience of applying for PIP and disability charities. The Turn2us PIP Helper simplifies the application process with a clear step-by-step approach and has already been used more than 200,000 times, enabling more people to start their applications.
As outlined in our five-year strategy to 2028, we place people’s lived experience at the heart of our work, and are working with local organisations and communities to tackle financial insecurity.
In October, it was a pleasure to welcome the People’s Postcode Lottery team to Middlesbrough, where we launched four reports highlighting the successes and learnings from the first year of delivering our place-based grant-making programme.
You can find out more about our work in Middlesbrough, and read the reports, on the research section of our website. Our work this year would not have been possible without the ongoing support thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Turn2us CEO, Thomas Lawson, says: “From everyone at Turn2us, a heartfelt thank you to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their vital support. This flexible, transformative funding has made a real difference to our work tackling financial insecurity this year and it is fantastic to be part of the People’s Postcode Lottery family.”
