Disability Benefit Assessments

Share

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is to develop a new system to deliver all disability assessments.

This will mean that people in receipt of more than one benefit will not have to provide the same information repeatedly.

People are assessed on whether they are well enough to work, for either Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit, and on whether they are entitled to Personal Independent Payments. At the moment, these assessments are done by two separate companies who use different IT systems and different processes.

The service will be developed from 2021 and will be launched in one region of the UK before being available nationally.
