Did you know it’s Volunteers’ Week?

Over 32 million people volunteer formally or informally at least once a month in the UK.

This Volunteers’ Week we would like to emphasise the work, commitment, and extraordinary difference made by our volunteers.

Simon Hopkins, the CEO of Turn2us, said: “Just after I joined Turn2us, I was lucky enough to meet some volunteers.

“To cut a long story short, I realised that one of them had started volunteering before I was born (in 1963!).

“Just think about that – this incredible lady has devoted over 50 years to making the process of getting help simpler, to providing that practical support and helping hand for someone applying for a grant, to just ‘being there’.

“I often think about that amazing lady and wonder how many lives she’s touched; lives of people who were feeling ignored, unsupported and isolated. It probably runs into hundreds.

“How many of us can truly say that? Volunteering really does change the world, one act of kindness at a time.”
