You will now be treated as a single person or lone parent so you may become entitled to one of the following benefits for the first time:
If you already claim one of these benefits you should notify the relevant benefit office about the change in your circumstance.
If you are on a spousal visa or visa that depends on your partner, and your partner is sent to prison, you will be treated as a single person. This might affect whether you can claim or continue getting certain benefits. It’s important to get immigration advice as this is a complicated situation.
