Grenfell Tower: One Year On
The 14th of June marks a year since Grenfell Tower was destroyed by fire and 72 people lost their lives.
Everyone at Turn2us was greatly saddened by this tragic event which took place near to our London office. Our thoughts on this anniversary are with everyone who has been affected.
A day after the horrific fire, Turn2us decided to help those affected by the fire by giving grants to households in the tower.
As the scale and impact of the fire became clear, our support was extended to those displaced from homes close to Grenfell Tower.
We worked closely with three of the local emergency centres to identify those who needed support and have now given help totalling £274,700 to 201 households affected by the fire.
Through the Turn2us Response Fund, we are continuing to offer support.
Simon Hopkins, CEO at Turn2us, said: "One year on from the terrible events of June 2017, our thoughts remain with all those who were affected.
"It’s vital that those whose lives were impacted by the tragedy know that there is still practical help and information available from organisations like ourselves."
