This notice also outlines how we protect your privacy and outlines your rights in relation to your personal data. 

For the purposes of the UK Data Protection Act 2018, Turn2us is the "data controller." This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal data about you. 

We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal data you provide to us. It is important that you read this notice so that you understand how we process and the measures we take to protect your personal data. 

We will:

  • only use your personal data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 2018) for the purposes for which you have entrusted it to us;

1. Who are we?

Turn2us (the trading name for Elizabeth Finn Care) is a charity registered in England and Wales (registration number 207812); and in Scotland (registration number SC040987), based at Hythe House, 200 Shepherds Bush Road, London W6 7NL.

‘Personal data’ is any information that relates to and identifies you or can identify you as an individual.

We classified the individuals whose personal data we process into the following categories:

d) Information about your employment status/occupation, housing status, relationship status, parental status, and personal circumstances, including disability information.

e) Financial data, including income and expenditure details, other current benefit details, payment details, and tax status (gift aid), where necessary, to support your application or donation;

f) Profile data, including internet protocol (IP) address, including your login data, your preferences, feedback, and survey responses;

g) Usage data, including information about how you use our website, products, and services;

h) Marketing and communications data, including your preferences in receiving marketing from us and our third parties, your communication preferences;

i) Other information voluntarily disclosed by you.

We may also collect, use, store, and transfer some of the special categories of personal data about you, which can be classified as follows:

a) Demographic information data, including age, gender, ethnic origin, nationality and religion or belief;

b) Health data, including medical information, to support your application for benefits or grants;

When we process your personal data/ special category data, we only do so for the stated purposes and legal grounds outlined below.

We may collect other personal data that is necessary to provide you with the products and services you have requested or to comply with our legal obligations. We don’t process your data in any manner that is dependent on a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

6. Whom will my information be shared with?

We may disclose your personal data to the following third parties:

  • Financial institutions, consultants, and professional advisors.
  • Other service providers such as information technology systems providers (duly appointed as data processors) and involved in the provision of services to Turn2us.
  • Independent public accountants and auditors, authorised representatives of internal control functions such as audit, legal and/or corporate security.
  • HMRC and other government bodies where Turn2us determines that it is necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations.

7. Transferring personal data outside the UK and EU/EEA

Some of our external third parties are located outside of the UK and/or EEA; therefore, their processing of your personal data will involve a transfer of data outside of the UK and/or EEA.

Whenever we transfer your personal information outside of the UK and/or EEA, we implement at least one of the following safeguards to ensure an equivalent level of protection:

  • We will only transfer your personal information to a country that provides an adequate level of protection for personal data, as determined by the UK or EEA data protection regime.
  • When using service providers located outside the UK or EEA, we may use standard data protection contractual terms recognised or approved by the applicable UK or EEA data protection regime.

We require all third parties to treat your personal information securely and in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 2018.   • Rights in relation to automated decision-making and profiling, you have the right not to be subject to automated decision-making or profiling where this activity produces legal effects.
